Let students take the wheel as architects of their own future

Our mission is to empower students to become self-directed learners, forging their own paths to success in college and beyond.

Our Values

Integrity

It is important to know who we truly are and align actions with our values. With a deep commitment to fostering trust, we guide our students on their journey of self-development, providing them with opportunities and strategies on how to present themselves genuinely.

Curiosity

Curiosity is the driving force behind exploration, learning, reflection, and improvement. We help our students to develop self-awareness and encourage them to seek new possibilities. By understanding our students on a personal level, we are well-positioned to support them in the creation of their unique voice and story.

Celebrate Setbacks

Taking on new challenges often comes with mistakes, setbacks, and occasional failures. At our core, we celebrate setbacks as valuable learning experiences, guiding our students to understand that embracing challenges and leveraging pitfalls are two of the most valuable ways to learn and grow.

The All-Out Difference

It’s not what we do, but how we do it that sets students up for success.

At All-Out, we are passionate about developing resilient, self-directed learners. Strong self-directed learners are aware of their strengths and limitations, and can motivate themselves to engage in, and improve, their learning. We accomplish this by focusing on enhancing the two essential components of self-directed learning: metacognition and motivation.

Decades of research indicates that metacognition plays a critical role in achieving academic success. Beyond a simple definition of thinking about thinking, effective metacognitive strategies get students to think about their own learning more explicitly, by teaching them to plan, monitor, and evaluate their own academic progress. We help our students build metacognitive capacity by embedding evidence-based approaches into their college readiness and application journey.

Motivation is the willingness to engage in metacognitive and cognitive skills, and apply them to learning. The obvious truth is that most students are faced with tricky choices when given more autonomy, such as doing homework over giving in to more immediate gratifications. We support our students by providing appropriately challenging tasks, engaging in interactive feedback to facilitate growth mindset, and encouraging them to focus on subjects that fuel their passion.

Who Are We?

Hi! I’m Anny

Getting students ready for college and graduate school has been my side-job for the longest time. It started in high school, when I was putting together my own college applications, and continued intermittently by word-of-mouth for more than 15 years. If there is one thing I learned, it’s that sometimes we have to get out of our own way for students to take the lead.

Because so much is at stake with college admissions, it might sound reckless or even foolish to suggest that parents and educators should let go of anything. By letting go, I mean detaching ourselves from expected outcomes, being right, our egos, and shifting the focus to process, possibilities, and compassion. For me, it has never been about getting that acceptance letter, but building trusting relationships, and providing science-backed strategies for students to take an active role in their learning – you own your journey.

I wear many hats – a student, cognitive scientist, talent development leader, and most recently, mother and entrepreneur. When I’m not playing house with my daughter, reading books or exploring new restaurants, I work on changing the world by empowering students to shape their own future, one student at a time.

Hi! I’m Bryan

I wear the dual hats of a legal compliance officer and a proud parent navigating the delightful chaos of raising a three-year-old. Amid my corporate job and bedtime stories, I’ve made time for some serious introspection. Life is too fascinating to be confined by the mundane definitions of success, don’t you think?

I’ve noticed many people put themselves on autopilot, or follow a predetermined path, letting external factors steer their course in pursuing a successful life. Yet, success is more than just a checkbox; it’s about embracing personal values, strengths, and finding your distinctive voice. And that, in essence, is what All-Out is all about – we create opportunities for you to explore and develop who you are and what you stand for.

So, whether you’re a high school student dreaming big or a seasoned professional seeking renewed purpose, my personal goal is to be your friend, side-kick, and mentor throughout this journey, because believe it or not, I learn as much from you as you will from me.

Success in the face of challenge does not come from sheer effort, but is a matter of searching for and implementing effective cognitive and metacognitive strategies.
